Child Support and Alimony

Stamford, Connecticut, Child Support, and Alimony Lawyers

Since 1972, clients throughout the Connecticut counties of Fairfield and New Haven have turned to the skilled family law attorneys of The Law Offices of Piazza & Simmons, when faced with important concerns in a divorce, such as child support and alimony, also called spousal maintenance.

Understanding Child Support and Post-Divorce Modifications

When our clients with children are divorcing, our experienced child support attorneys help them understand the rules regarding child support, including when and how modifications may be sought when income levels of parents change after a divorce. While information is available on how parents can seek child support modification on their own, most of our clients understand the value of allowing us to help them through this process.

Contact our family law offices today to learn more about how we can help you protect your interests and those of our children.

Educational Support Orders for College-Age Children

When it is appropriate, we will seek educational support orders requiring a supporting parent to provide support for a child or children to attend college for up to a total of four full academic years at an institution of higher education, or a private occupational school, for the purpose of attaining a bachelor's or other undergraduate degree or vocational degree.

Alimony in Connecticut

High-end divorce or otherwise, it is important to remember that there is no automatic expectation to pay or receive alimony, and no magic number in determining the amount of spousal support to be paid. Every family, every case is different. Different needs require different approaches to help ensure the rights and interests of everyone, especially the children, are properly protected.

We will use a list of state guidelines and fact-specific analysis to effectively determine how much alimony should be paid and by whom, taking into account:
